Home Is Where The Mom Is

Behind the Story
Shelly got the idea for Home is Where the Mom Is when she was the member of a MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) group. As she talked with friends every month during the meetings, a common topic emerged; all of the moms realized that they were better moms and wives after taking time to do something they enjoyed, yet they needed encouragement to take that time for themselves, and strategies to find the time to do so.
The moms also talked about what was near and dear to their hearts—their children and husbands. They often shared their ideas for childcare, maintaining a relationship with their husband, taking care of their home, saving money, and so on. Many times they laughed at the contrast between what the “experts” recommended and what worked in “real life.”
Shelly had been planning a book for moms, and now she had two themes; convincing moms of the importance of taking care of themselves, and reassuring moms that they knew what was best for their families, regardless of what the “experts“ said.
Part One of Home is Where the Mom Is will inspire moms to take time to care for themselves—spirit, mind, and body—and gives them strategies for finding that time. Parts Two and Three provide ideas from hundreds of “real life” moms on a comprehensive variety of subjects covering caring for home and family.
A study guide is available for book clubs or women’s groups who want to use Home is Where the Mom Is as a resource; contact us for details. |
